Thursday, November 12, 2026 | 18:00 | Hall of the 7th Municipal Community of the Municipality of Athens
Award-winning fashion designer, lawyer, author and filmmaker Dr. Georgia Chioni will participate as a keynote speaker in the conference “Fashion & Sustainability”, taking place on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at the Hall of the 7th Municipal Community of the Municipality of Athens, as part of the GRis Festival.

Dedicated to sustainable fashion, the circular economy and the redefinition of clothing as a cultural and social practice, the conference brings together distinguished academics, researchers, creative professionals and representatives of social initiatives to explore the evolving relationship between fashion, environmental responsibility, culture and society.
Through her multidisciplinary professional background and creative work, Dr. Georgia Chioni contributes to the discussion on contemporary fashion, examining its broader cultural and social dimensions and the importance of responsible approaches to creativity, design and production. Her participation forms part of a wider dialogue that seeks to move beyond fashion as an aesthetic expression, recognizing it as a field of cultural identity, social awareness and meaningful transformation.
An Interdisciplinary Dialogue on Fashion and Sustainability
The conference features an exceptional group of keynote speakers from different professional and academic fields:
- Dr. Maria Loizidou, Professor Emerita at the National Technical University of Athens.
- Dr. Georgia Chioni, award-winning fashion designer, lawyer, author and filmmaker.

GRis Festival: Contemporary Greek Culture on an International Stage
The GRis Festival, an established cultural institution created to promote contemporary Greek identity and artistic expression, continues to expand its international presence.
Following successful presentations in New York, Nicosia, Berlin and Athens, the festival is extending its international journey through Athens, London and Berlin, culminating in a major return to Athens.
True to its vision, GRis Festival serves as a dynamic platform for dialogue, cultural exchange and collaboration, connecting Greek artists, creators, scientists and academics with international audiences. Through its multidisciplinary programme, it highlights the ways in which contemporary artistic and intellectual voices engage with one another, transcending geographical, linguistic and cultural boundaries.
The “Fashion & Sustainability” conference reflects this philosophy by bringing together different disciplines and perspectives to explore how creativity, scientific research and social responsibility can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Dr. Georgia Chioni’s participation as a keynote speaker further contributes to this interdisciplinary conversation, placing fashion within a broader cultural context and highlighting its potential to become an instrument of meaningful social and environmental awareness.
