Jamar Majeed: Μεγάλωσα ακούγοντας καλλιτέχνες που είναι ευέλικτοι και δυνατοί storytellers στη μουσική τους. Δεν ήθελα ποτέ να μπω σε ένα «κουτάκι». Δεν μου αρέσει να ακολουθώ trends — εγώ είμαι το trend. Οι μεγαλύτερες επιρροές μου είναι καλλιτέχνες όπως η Nicki Minaj, ο Drake, ο Michael Jackson και η Rihanna. Jamar Majeed: Ήθελα να κάνω ένα pop-rap, παιχνιδιάρικο κομμάτι για κάποιον που έχει crush σε κάποιον άλλο, αλλά με έναν fun τρόπο. Να είναι και TikTok-caption, Gen Z ready. Αυτό το τραγούδι έχει αυτό το viral potential που ξέρω ότι θα λατρέψει το κοινό.

CHRISTOS ARFANIS: Welcome to Entertainment News Greece! You’ve described yourself as one of the most exciting new artists out right now with a “fearless personality.” For readers who are just discovering your music, how would you describe the Jamar Majeed experience in three words?
Jamar Majeed: Three words? Fearless. Addictive. Unpredictable. The Jamar Majeed experience is really about never knowing what you’re gonna get next. One second I’m giving you raw storytelling and emotions, the next I’m making a record that feels like the soundtrack to your craziest night out. I want people to feel like they’re stepping into a world when they hear my music not just listening to another song. I grew up loving artists who made eras feel larger than life, so that’s the energy I’m bringing into this generation.
CHRISTOS ARFANIS: You pride yourself on not sounding like everyone else and seamlessly blending rap, pop influences, and melodic flows. How did you develop this genre-bending sound, and who are the biggest influences on your storytelling?
Jamar Majeed: I always grew up listening to artist who are versatile and are big storytellers in there music I never wanted to be boxed in 1 category I don’t like following trends I am the trend. My biggest inspirations were artists like Nicki Minaj Drake Michael Jackson Rihanna they are the greatest of all time to me because they evolved with each era and they know how to keep audiences hooked.
CHRISTOS ARFANIS: Your new single, “Oops! I Think I Like Him,” drops on May 22 and captures the “chaos of unexpectedly catching feelings.” Can you share the real-life inspiration or the specific moment that sparked the idea for this track?
Jamar Majeed: I wanted to make a pop rap playful song about someone who has a crush on someone but also make it playful and TikTok caption Gen Z ready like this song just has that viral potential that i know audiences will love.
CHRISTOS ARFANIS: You mentioned the track is built for the Gen Z generation and TikTok culture, focusing on replay value and instantly quotable lyrics. When you’re in the studio, how much does social media and potential virality influence your creative process?
Jamar Majeed: It influenced this whole album era I wanted to live in the moment and be a 22 year old who’s living life loving everything around me and just enjoying myself but also this album is different in a good way it sounds nothing that’s out right now and that’s why I love it.
CHRISTOS ARFANIS: This record shows a “lighter, more fun side” of your artistry compared to your raw, emotional tracks. Is it challenging to switch gears between vulnerability and high-energy pop-rap, or does it come naturally to you?
Jamar Majeed: It comes naturally believe it or not when you’ve studied it for years and study other artists the genre is nothing to switch in bc this is what I love doing I make music like “hmmm what would I listen to”.
CHRISTOS ARFANIS: You noted that you want every release to feel like a “moment” and every era to feel bigger than the last. Visually and thematically, what defines this current era you are stepping into?
Jamar Majeed: This era is iconic and I’m not tryna gas my self but fans gonna look back and see this era is nostalgic and will go down in history.
CHRISTOS ARFANIS: Since “Oops! I Think I Like Him” is just the beginning of what’s coming next, what else is on the horizon for you this year? Can fans expect a larger project, like an EP or album, or live shows to match that viral energy?
Jamar Majeed: Yes so here’s an exclusive I have an album called 22 dropping this summer and I’m excited about it.
